I particularly enjoy translating patient information for clinical trials from English into German:
- Patient information brochures
- Informed Consent Forms
- Protocols
- Study visit guides
- Medical diaries
- Patient cards
- Websites
- Ads for the recruitment of suitable candidates for clinical trials
- and much more!
Clinical trials are conducted when an investigational drug needs to be evaluated for its safety and efficacy. The material I translate usually refers to phase III studies, when a large number of subjects with a specific medical condition are sought, on which the study drug is tested openly or blinded, with or without placebo. Of course, participation in such a study is always voluntary; even if the subjects themselves do not benefit from the evaluation of the study drug, they contribute to the progress of research and thus to the development of new treatments for other patients.
Clients for translations in the field of clinical research are pharmaceutical companies as sponsors of the study. Since the material usually has to be translated into many languages, these companies almost always refer to (specialist) agencies. I have been translating patient material for clinical trials for major agencies around the world for around ten years. I use SDL Trados Studio 2021 translation memory software so that my clients can rely on consistent terminology.
Do you represent an agency or pharmaceutical company that needs to translate medical research material from English into German? Then I would be delighted to hear from you.
