Have you already had your book translated into German and now need the translation to be edited and/or proofread?
I will proofread or edit your German novel or non-fiction book!
Ideally, a translated book, like a book written in the original language, is first sent through editing and then (after revision based on the suggested changes) through proofreading before publishing it.
However, the editing of a translation differs from editing an originally written book. When I edit a translated novel, I do not pay attention to the plotline and logic, since that has already been done with the original; instead, I read the translated book as a reader will, smoothing out passages I stumble over, making phrases more “German”, and localizing expressions and scenes where necessary.
When proofreading a book, I concentrate on punctuation, spelling, typos, and grammatical errors. Proofreading is always the last step in the creation of a book. After that, the text is ready for publication.
How long does it take to edit or proofread a book?
For editing your novel or non-fiction book, I calculate about 10,000 words per week and for proofreading 20,000 words per week.
What does the proofreading of a book cost?
My rate for editing a novel or non-fiction book depends on the quality of the translation and starts from 0.02 USD per word. Please note that I will not edit a machine translation.
For proofreading a book that has already been edited, I usually charge 0.01 USD per word.
